I built my first birdhouse from a Home Depot kit with my son in the cub scouts. I found that I enjoyed watching the birds come and go and later built another house with my daughter. Then I saw a rather elaborate birdhouse that was very different and I knew I wanted to build something beyond the typical birdhouse. First, I challenged my daughter to design something and that led to the Octagon. It’s the birdhouse installed in my back courtyard and I watch it daily as I work from home. Then I took my love of mid century design and more specifically Frank Lloyd Wright designs and started working on other models. The Gropius was my first Frank Lloyd Wright inspired design I built and delivered. The Elam was my next design, incorporating elements from 2 Frank Lloyd Wright designs. I have another design in mind based on the Olfelt house in Minnesota and I can’t wait to start on it next!

I leave the designs very open so that you can better enjoy watching the birds.
