The Gropius

Walter Gropius was a German-American architect and founder of the Bauhaus School. He is widely regarded as one of the pioneering masters of modernist architecture. He built The Gropius House in 1938 and subsequently lived there. I used the front elevation and entryway of the house as my model to create this mid-century birdhouse.

Finished with solid red stain on the roof, solid black stain for the body, and the trough was left natural. 3 coats of polycrylic for a durable outdoor finish. Base and roof are reclaimed cedar fence pickets.
